Job Summary:
- Conceptualize most suitable structural system to Architects concept design alternatives.
- To provide oversight and advise of the structural design at the pre contract stages.
- To provide an oversight of structural design changes during the post contract stage.
- To provide wide-ranging counsel to the developments in association with other disciplines in the Department.
- Supervise construction activities as per assignments and directives.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide oversight direction and counsel on structural issues, throughout all stages of the design and construction program.
- To provide information in a timely manner and in accordance with the program.
- Ensure design compliance with stakeholder’s guidelines.
- Ensure design compliance by consultants with regulatory approvals of the country and international design standards as appropriate.
- Assemble reports on structural issues in collaboration with others in the Department.
- Provide the structural design consultant with oversight and direction as appropriate.
- Review the structural design consultant’s documents at all stages of the project.
- Attend site visits, factory reviews and mock-ups inspections and prepare reports as required.
- Attend meetings with product suppliers and building system manufacturer’s and prepare product reports for the senior management as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognized accredited University.
- Preferably a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from an internationally recognized accredited University.
- Professional membership of an accredited International institute.
- Grade “A” certification from MME Committee for Accreditation of Engineers & Consultancy Offices.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of building design and construction management experience, with the last 5 years served in the capacity of a structural design engineer is required.
- A proven, successful track record of consistent achievement in in previous structural design role project and one major pre-engineered steel structure project have been successfully delivered.
- Working knowledge of the GCC countries.
Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant computer design programs to include MS Word, Excel, StadPro, Safe and Etabs and SAP 2000 etc.
- Familiar with various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances.
- Structural design management skills and strong technical knowledge that enable him to resolve technical issues at site.
- Excellent reading, writing and speaking English Language Skills.
