Al Meera opens first rehabilitated branch in Muscat

As part of the strategic plan adopted by its Board of Directors to foster its presence in the Qatari and regional market, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) opened its first rehabilitated shopping mall in Al Athaiba Area in Muscat, in the Sultante of Oman.

Al Meera hypermarket opening was attended by H.E Yahya bin Sulaiman Al Nadabi, Deputy Governor of Bawshar (Sultante of Oman), Dr. Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Meera (Sultanate of Oman), Mr. Rashed Al-Saadi, Vice Chairman of the Board (Sultanate of Oman), Dr. Mohamed Bin Nasser Al Qahtani Board Member (Qatar), Mr. Guy Sauvage, CEO of Al Meera (Qatar), and Mr. Mohamed Sulaiman (Sultanate of Oman), as a partnership exists between Al Meera Consumer Goods Company and the National Investment Funds Company Oman (NIFCO).

Dr. Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera (Qatar), announced that the opening of this branch comes after the completion of the rehabilitation and restoration works according to the company’s endeavors to acquire more shares in the consuming market in Oman. Dr. Al Qahtani said that the opening aims to enhancing the services, diversifying products for customers, and adding more convenient shopping experience through spacious areas, modern equipment, diversified products, and good looking shopping area.

Al Athaiba shopping mall also includes a special floor for other items such as clothes, gifts, toys, cosmetics, many well-renowned restaurants and the main franchises of Landmark group such as E-max, Shoe Express and Lifestyle.

From his part, H.E DeputyGovernor of Bawshar expressed his happiness for the opening of the branch in its new style, pointing to Al Meera’s success in developing it.  H.E also expressed his pleasure for what the branch is offering to the shoppers in this vital area in Muscat, and wished Al Meera to continue with its expansion plan in the Omani market.

“Al Meera has five branches in Oman now. The opening of Al Athaiba branch is the beginning of the developing process of the rest of the branches as per the Board plans. These branches are distributed inside and outside Muscat, where the market is developing rapidly. We expect the ongoing growth of this market to continue ahead in line with the leadership’s aspirations to support the welfare of Omani People”, Dr. Al Qahtani said. “Also, It is worthy of note to announce that over 30 per cent of the employees at Al Meera branches in Oman are Omani citizens and we look forward to increasing the number on yearly basis”, he added.

On the other hand, Al Meera projects continue in Qatar, where the construction of 7 new malls has already started. At the same time, the rehabilitation and development works at the branches of Khalifa Al Janoubia, Bin Omran and Al Mansoura just came to end, while the renewing process will get started in 6 other stores.

The announced financial results indicate Al Meera expansion and sales growth. A wider growth is expected by the coming period in line with the state’s economic progress, and the execution of infrastructure projects, based on the government’s plans and capital expenses.

Dr. Al Qahtani concluded “Al Meera has ambitious plans to satisfy the customers’ demands, through good reputation, continuous growth, suitable prices, diversification, and presence in every neighborhood”. He also thanked the brothers in the Sultanate of Oman especially H.E. the Minister of Trade and Industry for his ongoing effort to facilitate all required procedures with the concerned authorities in the Sultanate.
