Works Begin on Al Meera’s New Branches in Umm Salal Ali, Al Wakra 2, North Sailiya and Bu Sidra

Doha, Qatar - March 2015: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) announced that contractors have begun works on its new branches in Umm Salal Ali, Al Wakra 2, North Sailiya and Bu Sidra.

Ahmed Al Sheeb, member of the Central Municipal Council for Umm Salal Constituency, praised Al Meera’s expansions. He stressed on the importance of having a new branch in Umm Salal Ali to answer to the region’s needs, which has been witnessing a massive population increase due to urbanization. Al Sheeb also commended how meticulous the company’s management is in exchanging ideas and engaging in discussions with the residents’ representatives from the areas of expansion. 

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera, said:

Our strategic expansion plan in the Qatari Market aims to develop and establish outlets in various parts of the country in addition to our current supermarkets, adhering to our motto ‘Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’. This growth is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to develop areas within the state.

In addition to supermarkets, Al Meera’s new branches will include a variety of restaurants and much more.

Al Qahtani added: “Serving the residents’ needs in the areas that are witnessing fast expansion is our priority during our next phase. By taking this approach, we are working in line with the state’s plans to develop new areas across the country, by providing them with integrated services.”

Al Meera seeks to work with contractors and project managers of the highest standards to implement the company’s plan to provide a modern shopping experience like no other for all customers.

In 2014, nine modern shopping centers were completed in Muraikh, Al Azizia, Muaither, Jiryan Nujaima, Zakhira, Al Wakra, Al Thumama, Al Wajba, and Rawdat Ekdeem, in addition to finalizing a branch in the Gulf Mall, which will open soon, to answer the daily requirements of Qatari residents from all across the state. Branches at Al Muraikh, Al Azizia and Muaither branches have already established their soft opening.

And in order to achieve wider reach to serve the various communities across Qatar, Al Meera is currently constructing 14 new shopping centers located in Sailiya North, Bu Sidra , Al Wakra2, Umm Salal , Leabaib 1, Leabaib 2, Rawdat Aba El-Herran, Azghawa, Al Khor, Um Qarn, Rawdat Al Hamama, Jeryan Junaihat, Al Sailiya, and Ain Khaled.

Upon completion of the construction works, Al Meera will be ready to open its new branches after obtaining the necessary approvals and licenses from the relevant authorities; thus becoming a network of 56 branches spread all over Qatar.
